The Polish-Indian Chamber of Commerce, together with the City Office of Zabrze and the Regional Chamber of Commerce, organized information and training seminar in the area of economic and trade relations of Poland and India, as well as development prospects for economic cooperation, especially in extraction and mining sectors. During a seminar addressed to business and local government administration, information regarding participation of Polish governmental and business delegation in the Polish and Indian Energy Summit in Delhi and the 5th Asian Extraction Congress and International Mining Fairs in Calcutta was presented.
The purpose of the seminar was to provide the participants with knowledge indispensable for commencement of cooperation with Indian partners and enabling consultations with experts from the area of energy and mining industries, who possess experience in cooperation with the Indian market.
The conference was attended by representatives of governmental administration, local government organizations and business environment from Poland and India. The special guest at the conference was Mr. Srenik Sett, President of the Association of Business Chamber of Commerce and Industries from Calcutta.
Honorary patronage over the event was held by the Indian Embassy in Poland and the Ministry of Economy. Partners were the National Chamber of Commerce, Dentons and Think Tank.
In inauguration speeches, Ms. Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik, Mayor of Zabrze, Ms. Monika Kapil Mohta, Indian Ambassador in Poland, Mr. Tadeusz Donocik, President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Katowice and Mr. Srenik Sett – President of the Association of Business Chamber of Commerce and Industries emphasized the importance of the energy and mining sectors for both countries and the potential of mutual cooperation in these areas. India is a country that is looking for energy, whereas Poland is number one in the extraction industry and may be an important partner for India.
Invited experts talked about specific possibilities of cooperation: Ms. Lucyna Jaremczuk, Department of Bilateral Promotion and Cooperation, Ministry of Economy, Professor Maciej Kaliski, Department of Mining, Ministry of Economy Ms. Maria Nowakowska, National Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Tadeusz Dulian, Deloitte, Mr. Andrzej Turkowski, Think Tank, Mr. Michał Motylewski, Dentons. Business potential of Zabrze was presented by Mr. Marcin Bania – Investor Service Bureau, Zabrze City Office. Experiences in cooperation were recounted by Mr. Tomasz Pędkolski, Famur, Mr. Surojit Ghosh, Arcelor Mittal and Mr. Sebastian Stefaniak, Institute of Environmental Engineering. The meeting was moderated by the IPCCI President, Mr. JJ Singh.
The seminar enjoyed great interest and we believe that it will translate into the strengthening of business relations. President Srenik Sett and Ambassador Monika Kapil Mohta were under great impression of the hospitality of the Mayor of the City of Zabrze, Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik. President of ABCCI personally promised work on organizing further cooperation between Calcutta and the region of Silesia which is a guranteee of tangible successes in the future.
